The Puthenveetil Chacko Family legacy

A journey of strength, unity and love

The story of the Puthenveetil Chacko family in Bangalore began with the vision and determination of our beloved Appachen, Late P. O. Chacko, and Ammachi, Late Annamma Chacko, who laid the foundation of their family in the vibrant city of Bangalore in 1944.

Their unwavering spirit, love, and commitment to family created a bond that has stood the test of time and continues to flourish to this day. Our family’s roots reach deep into history, tracing back to the early 1920s, in the pre- Independence era of India. The Puthenveetil family, based in Mavelikkara, now part of the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, was led by Late P. C. Oommen and his wife Late Annamma. Together, they nurtured a family of remarkable individuals, including their three sons—Late P. O. Chacko, Late P. O. John, and Late P. O. Thomas—and four daughters, Late Rebecca, Late Kochannmma, and two younger sisters.

Among them, it was Appachen, Late P. O. Chacko, who made the bold decision to migrate to Bangalore in 1944, where he established the Puthenveetil Chacko family in this bustling city. With a rare vision for that time, Appachen was a man of many talents—his academic brilliance, strong leadership, and musical talents made him a beloved figure in Bangalore. Holding a BA degree when few had the opportunity, he was appointed Accounts Officer at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), where he earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

More than just a professional, Appachen was a loving patriarch who fostered deep connections across all spheres of life—government, administration, and religious communities. His warmth and generosity made him a mentor to many, and his command of the English language was a source of guidance for those who sought his wisdom. An avid sportsman, Appachen’s  love for physical fitness led him to achieve remarkable feats, including winning the prestigious TUNIBY Trophy at a veteran’s tennis tournament. Ammachi (Late Annamma Chacko) was the silent force that held everything together. With grace and quiet strength, she managed the household with love and dedication, nurturing their children and ensuring the family remained bonded in love and faith.

The Puthenveetil Chacko family grew to include nine children (eight sons and one daughter), each of whom continued the legacy of love, service, and leadership. They are:

  1. Late P. C. Oommen (Babu) & Late Aleyamma Oommen (Ammini)

  2. Late P. C. Mathews (Benny) & Late Mariamma Mathews (Lillykutty)

  3. Late P. C. Jacob (Joy) & Mrs. Mercy Jacob

  4. Late P. C. John (Johny) & Late Mary John (Ammini)

  5. Mr. P. C. Thomas (Appu) & Mrs. Susan Thomas (Suma)

  7. Late P. C. Samuel (Sam) & Mrs. Annie Samuel

  8. Mr. P. C. Alexander (Kunju) & Mrs. Susy Alexander

  9. Mr. P. C. Abraham (Thambi) & Mrs. Jane Abraham
